ABOUT

Our Mission:

The mission of the Mindful Living Group is to make mindfulness programs and services accessible so that people, families, and teams will experience its proven benefits. Each professional within the group cultivates a strong and compassionate mindfulness practice to help our clients achieve optimal wellness.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness means being aware of the present moment in a compassionate and accepting way with discernment and friendliness. The practice of mindfulness is learning to shift the focus of your attention to the present moment and to allow the moment to be exactly the way it is. The misconception that mindfulness is about stopping your thoughts or having a blank mind is common, but rest assured that you can learn how to shift your attention to observe your thoughts rather than to be consumed by them. The term Mindfulness was coined by Jon Kabbat-Zinn, PhD who brought the practice of Buddhist meditation to the West to be studied in a clinical setting. Mindfulness is the secular practice of meditation.

Why Practice Mindfulness?

The benefits of a regular mindfulness practice have been proven scientifically to reduce stress, improve memory, reduce anxiety and depression, increase emotional regulation, and increase empathy. Recent studies show that over only 8 weeks of practicing mindful meditation on average for 30 minutes a day creates structural changes in the brain which affect mood, attention, memory, etc. A regular mindfulness practice ultimately cultivates the ability to live in awareness, witnessing moment-by-moment your own stream of consciousness. Mindfulness practice helps us develop the capacity to see clearly what we are negatively attached to so that we can cultivate gentler forms of interdependence and end our suffering.

MEET THE TEAM

We are a team of dedicated professionals who believe that mindfulness is a way of living. We are each committed to our own mindfulness practices so we may be more present with our clients
